Waller Center Happenings

We are excited to host a mix of weekly users and visiting groups serving to improve the lives of people in our community. Between user groups, we are continuing to enhance the Waller Center so that it can continue to support long-term improvements in social justice and environmental sustainability.

Waller Center welcomed back the Gay American Indian Thanksgiving celebration for a feast after their annual visit to Alcatraz.

New room names and signs

We have named our rooms after local landmarks and historical contributors. Each room now has a new sign.

Flooring improvements in hamilton chapel

When we started improving the property to become the Waller Center in 2011, we filled in the organ pit in the raised altar area of the Hamilton Chapel, resulting in a mis-match of wood. Dedicated volunteers Bob and Harold are installing new flooring on the raised altar that will provide a more finished look.

Stairs to the phoenix room

We always wondered what was under the worn red carpet on the stairs to the third floor Phoenix Room. Now we know – beautiful hardwood flooring! Many thanks to our volunteer, Farmer, for this work. More photos to come!
